The Robbins' Arrive!

I was so excited to see Renee and Bob at the train station today! Cristina graciously offered to drive us home from the train station so a little before three we left the office. On our way out of the office Cristina told me that Veronica and Elena want to say goodbye before I left for the day and we met them as we were walking out. They did want to say goodbye but they really wanted to give me a birthday gift! They were so sweet and gave me a beautiful green and blue gemstone bracelet. Of course I put it on right away! We drove to the train station and I anxiously awaited the train from Milano. Finally, it arrived (I really only waited ten minutes but it seemed like forever) and I was so happy to see them walking down the platform!
Here comes the train
I was not at all surprised to see Renee in Wisco and Bob in Sabotage!
Cristina drove us back to my flat and Renee and Bob relaxed a bit while I made them piadine and then we left to explore Torino. We went to Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Castello first. We went to the duomo (which I had not been to yet) and saw the replica of the Holy Shroud. The church was amazing and all the side chapels were beautiful.
We walked to the Po and had drinks in Piazza Vittorio. It amazes me that my friends traveled across the ocean the hang out with me. We walked through the Royal Gardens on the way to dinner with my coworkers. We had an authentic Piemontese dinner and I was so happy my coworkers could meet my friends. I had the second best asparagus ever (the best is still in Prague…that will be hard to beat). It was topped with cheese and olive oil and just amazing. It was so much fun to tell Renee and Bob all I had learned about Torino from my friends here. It is such an amazing town with so much history (and I only know a little)! I am so happy that all my coworkers are such wonderful people as it made the Robbins’ visit very authentic to have dinner with everyone!
