Tossa de Mar

We started the day with coffee and treats.  Chiara introduced me to leche y leche, a type of coffee popular in the Canary Islands, and it was amazing.

We drove about an hour north of where we are staying to the beautiful town of Tossa de Mar. A bit of a rough ride for Ruth who got car sick, but she battled back like the unicorn she is and took a two hour nap in the car and was ready to hit the beach!

Sporting her new suit from Zia and Nonna we hung out on the beach for the afternoon.

The best purchase of the day was definitely a beach umbrella...a close second was the towels from the market.

Ruth had lots of fun playing with her castle even if the beach sand was not very sandy, but rocky.

We took a break from the beach for coffee and gelato and found a playground for Ruth. She loved the slides.

Ruth, Justin, and Chiara enjoyed swimming in the sea even if it was a bit chilly!

A happy kid on the way up to the castle.

We walked up to the medieval castle which was built in the 12th century. The views of the beaches and city below were amazing.

We strolled through the small streets of the old town and even caught a glimpse of a beautiful, but small church.

Ruth entertained herself while Chiara and I shopped.

Although not all shops were open...one was on a coffee break.

On the way out of town we stopped for a Nutella crepe and coffee before our journey home. We took a hard pass on the minion ice cream.  Mainly because we couldn’t identify what Candy Floss was!

Pizza, coffee, and gelato to end the night!
